The obverse – The fifth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II

On the obverse, you find the iconic effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, facing right and wearing the diamond royal tiara used for her coronation.
This fifth royal portrait is signed by Jody Clark (initials J.C.), a renowned engraver from the Royal Mint.
The inscription in Latin "2018 · ELIZABETH II · D · G · REG · F · D" translates to: 2018, Elizabeth II, by the grace of God, queen, defender of the faith. Around the coin, the word ONE POUND is repeated in micro engraving, making it a security feature, accompanied by a latent holographic image changing from £ to "1" depending on the angle of view.

The reverse – Nations of ...
The reverse – Nations of the Crown The reverse is a celebration of the unity of the United Kingdom, representing the four national floral symbols emerging from a single stem:
The rose (England) The thistle (Scotland)
The leek (Wales) The shamrock (Northern Ireland)
The whole is elegantly contained within a royal crown.
This design, named "Nations of the Crown," is signed by David Pearce, who won a national competition at just 15 years old. His initials DP are visible to the right under the crown. The words "ONE POUND" are also inscribed on the reverse, with a discreet repetition of the date 2018 in micro-text along the edge.
